Why to be rich?

I completed my vision board idea for now. Was going over everything again and I realised I didn’t have that many things to look forward to. I’ve been very fortunate in terms of my upbringing. Though I didn’t buy 6k worth T-shirts, I never lacked anything. Even now, I don’t have any desire to buy branded super expensive stuff. So, I wasn’t sure what to add to my vision board in this aspect. I could come up with only a few things.

1. My own house with a lot of outdoor and indoor space.

Now, this is something which takes a long time to accomplish and is not something I necessarily crave. I already live in a pretty large flat with my own room and pretty good community facilities.

2. Branded Electronics

Maybe this is something I can get behind. Though I never understood the reason behind spending 60k for headphones when we can get the same in high quality for utmost 20k. But still, being able to buy multiple desktops, Macs, iPads, iPhones without a second thought is very appealing.

3. Stylish Clothes

This is something that can be seen in everyday life. A change in lifestyle. Where we wouldn’t have to think twice about buying a pair of sneakers worth 5k, a branded dress worth 10k or watch worth 50k.

I realised however rich we get, without any hobbies or art in life, we wouldn’t be satisfied. A house is just upgraded to a house with a pool or a house with home theatre. Clothes/Watches/Shoes are upgraded from 5k worth to 10k to 20k to 1L. Car is upgraded from 15L to 50L to 2Cr. All of these don’t seem significant if we don’’t have a very keen interest in them.

So, the key is art.

You should be able to do something you love with the money you have. Buy a painting worth billions. Buy paint supplies worth 20k to enable your love for art. Get a gym membership worth 20k which has all kinds of facilities to enable your love for working out. Be able to buy lots of electronics and hardware to enable your love for tinkering and engineering. That is how money is useful in our life (after a certain point).

For people who don’t have any particular job that makes them passionate enough to not want money. Or for people who don’t know where their passion lies, this can become our goal. Work passionately in any field, whichever job, to earn money, spend that money on something you love, something that makes you want to live, every day.
